Two weeks leave, it was amazing that he'd even been able to get it but well, pulling rank actually seemed to work, despite the fact that he'd never really had to do it before. His whole career he'd had no reason to be home for Christmas his parents, both dead, his brother too. It was the main reason he'd enlisted in the first place, as a reason to get away, something to think about other than loneliness.
This year, he had an excuse, a fiance and newborn twins to get back to. So, he'd taken the chance, they weren't his kids, and she wasn't his fiance but they'd made a deal and well, it sucked to be alone on Christmas, even for a girl as tough as Sammi. Besides the kids deserved a decent first Christmas. The only problem now was locating her.
Last they'd spoken he hadn't even been able to tell her when he was flying out, security issues, she'd been somewhere around this area but that didn't mean anything now, for all he knew she could have been on the other side of the country by now, though he doubted that very much. He sighed taking a drink of his beer holding his phone in his hand trying to call her.
"Come on Sammi" he muttered. Whenever she didn't answer he assumed the worst, he was a hunter, or a former one he knew that in a split second things could go from okay to bad in less than a minute. "Answer the fucking phone!" he said growing frustrated, not with her, more with the fact that he didn't know what was going on. With a sigh he hung up the phone playing it down on the bar willing it to ring.
