While his daughter hid and watched,
She dare not breathe. She was so still.
Just as an angel cried for the slaughter,
Abraham's daughter raised her voice.

Overall Personality/Appearance: Opposite of her sister's typical attitude and uncaring personality, Solaris proves to be the caring one of the two. She is very much in tune with what goes around them in their world. Looking after her younger sister though is her main priority in her life, and while she does not put off an aggressive personality, she is willing to do whatever that means to be done to protect her sister. Naturally, Solaris opens up to almost anybody, but she can get shy and confused around boys. She has a very strong sense of family, having remembered her mother and her life before the night she died. Her connection is stronger with Rory though rather than her own father, and slowly started seeing him less as a father figure as he turned to leaving them alone for weeks. From this, as well as the hunter skills, over time, Solaris has developed a strong survivalist instinct, which makes her independent, the con though is that it's left her weary of strangers. Also, from their father's coming and goings from their lives, Solaris has developed some unresolved anger issues at him for this, but chooses to keep this information to herself rather than trouble her sister with it.
Negative aspects of Solaris's personality are there though. She has a lot of problems with second guessing herself, and if something harms or comes near to harming Rory, Solaris with mentally beat herself up over it. Also, being forced into the position that they are currently in now, she often believes that she is not doing a good enough job caring for her sister and that there is always something else that she should be doing. Solarious has some insecurity issues after growing up too fast, and these insecurities can lead her to spark jealousy fits of other people, or extreme over protectiveness of an individuality. However, even with her hunter upbringing, Solaris proves to be just another average teenage girl who needs to discover the fire within herself.

Overall History: Solaris Claire Strauss is the first born daughter to hunting couple Alecia Devolani and Leo Strauss. Both parents had been born and raised into the life and they never intended to continue the cycle. They both dreamt of getting out, finding a normal, risk free life...that was until they met each other. They met on a Wendigo hunt in Canmore, Alberta neither knowing what the others true purpose there was, assuming the other was a clueless campers, with their families in danger. It didn't take them long to figure out the truth and 18 year old Alecia actually ended the hunt, saving Leo's life in the process.
It was love, however strange and unexpected and the two of them decided to part from their family packs and head off hunting together. It was only a few months on the road that Alecia discovered she was pregnant for the first time, it had not been planned to say the least and for a while she was unsure of what she was going to do about it. Being caught in the lie by Leo they decided together to go through with it and several months later they were gifted with their first baby girl: Solaris.
Life on the road with a baby was hard, and it became even harder when once again they were uncareful and Alecia became pregnant a second time. After nine months, she gave birth to another baby girl, Aurora. They only had a blissful few years together as a family before Alecia was killed on the job by a shapeshifter. Distraught over his wife's demise and refusing to leave her behind, Leo brought his dying wife back home to the girls. Alecia held onto the drive and arrival with one thing on her mind, and that one thing was all that she had that kept her holding on. As she lay dying on her bed, Solaris stood by her side, watching with wide eyes. Her mother made her eldest daughter promise her that she will always look after her younger sister and not let anything terrible happen to her.
A six year old Solaris agreed, and a few minutes later Alecia Devolani passed.
She would never forget that night. Years passed and Leo raised them in the hunter's lifestyle: continuously moving around, never staying in place for more than a few weeks, credit fraud, little friends, and above all, staying safe and the trades craft so they could protect themselves. As they grew, Leo became more and more absent from their lives with his hunts, and sometimes, Solaris began to wonder if he would ever come back alive. But he always did, much to her shock. While their father poured over trying to find the shapeshifter from that night, Solaris took to caring for her sister and herself and soon found herself growing less dependent on her father everyday. By her freshmen year of high school, Solaris Strauss was at the point in her life where she didn't even need her father any more.
Unlike her sister's off putting personality, Solaris did not have a hard time at school with other peers. While her trust ran thin and she did not think of any of her peers as safe, she choose to not make enemies or lead herself open for any verbal attacks, unless defending her tomboy younger sister. Solaris found her interests outside of school though, and sought comfort in woods and nature. It provided the escapism that she needed from the world and from her life. There was another thing that she discovered: Wicca, but she kept that a secret from her father and sister, figuring that they would never understand. She loved the belief and theology behind it, and the comfort that it brought her with the absence of a mother. From years of a self study and practice in secret, Solaris became fully emerged.
Only about a few months ago though did a problem arise for Solaris. She keeps on having repeatedly bad nightmares about her mother's death and she does not know why. Perhaps it's from stress, perhaps it's from growing up too fast, or perhaps it is something else.

Dream A Little Dream Of Me, Bloody Mary
I never meant to be so bad to you, one thing I said that I would never do.
She nodded her head, eyes still wide. She was afraid to cry, because that meant that it showed defeat, that her mother was dead while she was still fighting for her life. But Solaris's deal with her mother was sealed and that put a steady comfort in Alecia's eyes as she turned her head away and closed her eyes. Life had slowly been leaving her, but it was growing faster now before there was no motion from her mother's body. A sound escaped her father, unnatural but full of sorrow and pain as he pulled his partner's body close to him, "Go do your sister!"
Solaris Strauss woke screaming, a startling dream that she was becoming all too familiar with now. Sweat covered her body as she sat in the bed, shaking as she stared into the solid darkness. It comforted her as one would comfort an old friend, it was both death and life to her all in the same time, very much like nature, "Rory?" she called out in a hushed whisper, if her younger sister was awake then she made no sound to tell her. Waiting a moment, Solaris finally got out of bed, still shaken. The bed groaned with the lifted weight and slowly, she walked to the kitchen.
Dim lights were on and she turned on the faucet, cupping her hands under the cool water and splashed it on her face, trying to wake herself up. Do you understand? Her mother's words echoing through her mind as she stared outside. There was darkness, only a porch light showed the way. Her breathing had slowed down, but that still didn't shake the eerie feeling that she had been left with. Wandering to a drawer, she pulled out a blue candle and sit it into a holder, lighting the flame. Take her hand and never let go. She watched the flame dance for a moment, feelings over whelming her as she pressed up against the counter and slid down to the floor.
Burying her face into her hands, Solaris let go and cried.
