MONTGOMERY HEY THERE, I'M JADE ALISON MONTGOMERY THEY CALL ME JADE AND I'M CURRENTLY TWENTY-FIVE YEARS OLD. I'M PART OF THE GIFTED AND I'M A FEMALE. ------------------------------------------------- Jade was the first born daughter of Mei and Benjamin Montgomery, who met while they were in college at Berkelely and fell in love almost immediately. Despite their cultural differences, Mei and Benjamin were inseparable, much to Mei’s parent’s dismay because they had their hearts set on their daughter marrying a Chinese man. Benjamin was raised in California, and was very laid back and easy going, and Mei’s parents viewed him as lazy and unsuited for their daughter. Mei’s parents immigrated to the States when she was 11 years old, and though she had grown up in China, she took to American culture easily and had no qualms about marrying outside of her culture. Mei and Ben married as soon as they graduated, and Ben took a job at an HMO company in Aspen Colorado. Mei’s parents moved in with the newlyweds, in order to ensure that their grandchildren were raised properly, and it wasn’t long before Jade was born. She was doted on by both sides of her family, and her grandfather Lee took it upon himself to train her in martial arts when she turned 4. Kung Fu taught her discipline and focus, and her lessons were often her favorite part of the day, not only because it was fun and challenging, but because she got to spend time with her grandfather and hear stories about what life was like back in China. Jade also spent a lot of time with her father, who took her hiking and horseback riding, and was much more fun and energetic to be around than her grandfather, so over-all Jade had a well-balanced and happy childhood. That was until her power first manifested, then the whole dynamic in her family changed, and all of the adults in her life argued about what was best for her. It happened a few days before she turned 8 years old during practice. Her grandfather asked her to get her staff, and Jade was very focused on her current hold, so she moved her gaze over to the staff and focused on it. With all of her concentration turned on one object like that, the staff suddenly flew through the air and ended up in Jade’s hand, much to the surprise of both her and her grandfather. Lee had heard stories about children being born with special powers, but had never witnessed it himself and he insisted she be brought back to China for special training. Her parents insisted that she was fine, and tended to ignore it all together, and Jade was always caught in the middle. Jade learned early on not to use her developing powers around her family, because every time they witnessed it it brought about all of the arguing all over again. Though she did continue to develop it, quickly learning that if she focused hard enough on an object, she could make it do extraordinary things. The only person she shared her progress with was her little sister Lynn, who was always supportive and awe-struck by her sister’s ability, and the two spent hours together, while Jade made objects dance and fly around her sister who never grew tired of the game. Jade finished out high school in Aspen, but found that she needed a break from her overwhelming family, so decided to attend college back at Berkely, the school where her parents had fallen in love. Right before she left for college however, tragedy struck her family, and she lost both her mother and father in a fire that consumed her childhood home. She stayed long enough for the funeral and to make sure her sister and grandparents were settled and safe, then left for college, having grown up immensely after losing her parents. Jade had a productive four years at Berkeley, though no matter how hard she searched she was unable to discover anything else about her gift, or even if there was anyone else who had it. When she graduated with a degree in Art History, she had no job prospects and no desire to return home because of the tragic memories it held for here. Her quest for answers had started to consume her, so Jade decided to travel until she could find out more about what she was and if there were others out there. As soon as she graduated she packed up her car and headed west, towards the west Texas town of Big Springs, where she had heard rumors of para-normal activity taking place. It was in Texas she met someone who would introduce her to a world she knew deep down must have existed, and to which she would spend the rest of her life. She ran into a lone hunter and helped him stop a band of wraithe's that were tormenting the town. Knowing this was what she was meant to do, why she had her gift, she set out to live the life of a hunter. It led to her meeting and befriending other hunters, and she traveled around with her childhood friends for a time, friends that had chosen the same life she had, but after a series of stressful hunts she parted ways with them, and is now traveling on her own. |
