SWAN HEY THERE, I'M MCLAIN DUKE SWAN THEY CALL ME MCLAIN AND I'M CURRENTLY TWENTY EIGHT YEARS OLD. I'M PART OF THE WEREWOLVES AND I'M A GUY. ------------------------------------------------- The Swan legacy has been passed down generation to generation, while they family lines do not stretch out to as far as some of the other notable hunter clans, they still can provide to be a deadly force when needed. Mclain's branch rested out in the Capital suburbs, slowly wasting away on city lives. While there was still much to be done, it can easily be said that his own family had grown lazy compared to some of the other branches. His parents had settled out there for a job, but once it had ended, they never quite seemed to want to leave, blending well into society and the backgrounds that provided. As a rite of passage through and just like his two siblings before him, McLain wasn't spared from the hunter's life and training, he still grew up on it, his hunters were just few and far between. His parents, unlike some others, seemed to like to keep their children safe and sound with a fairly normal life. But all of that changed one day, after all, when you kill something, you better make sure that it stayed dead and the Swan's failed to do that on one occasion. What it was had been a mystery, the only two people who knew were now dead and behind were left two teenagers and one young adult that didn't quite know on what to do. But thankfully, they had help. From the South came their aunt and uncle, quickly scooping them up from their East Coast Elite lives and dragged them back to Hot Springs, Arkansas. It was very much a culture shock, especially for Mclain, who would still have to go to high school once fall came about. He could not help but to grumble about it, but it hardly seemed to faze their aunt and uncle, who simply brushed off his complaints as if it were nothing. One thing that all three Swan children did enjoy though, were the hunts. Hot Springs was neither a large enough city to hide everything nor was it completely rural, but the surrounding areas were and held all sorts of legends. So their summer was well spent, slowly edging their sadness away and replacing it with new memories and made them only remember the good things about their parents, and not the last day in their house with walls covered in blood. It caused Mclain to keep a gruff edge, but even that didn’t stop from smiling when his siblings got a rise out of him. Although, then there came school, and it was hardly a joy for him. There was nothing more awkward than being the new kid as a senior, and like all kids that decided to wear leather jackets, they targeted him as the outsider. Even more shocking for those kids was though, was the fact that he could defend himself. But of course, defending yourself usually meant that you also ended up in detention as well. During October, Mclain found himself serving out his sentence by helping out with Homecoming and it was there that he met a girl. Savannah Finch. A sophomore, three years younger than him, and maybe a little immature and rather southern Barbie, yet she still caught his eye, and her’s as well. Their courtship and games of hard to get only lasted through the rest of Homecoming before they just gave in and officially became a couple. Like all odd couples though, they were met with a force of stares and disapprovals yet they paid them no mind, stating that they were clearly in love and so they were, for that was how all teenage love worked. Despite their ups and downs though, it became clear that he wasn’t about to get dropped by her any time soon, and he wasn’t planning on leaving her either. Some of the people in her crowd just couldn’t get over, often making her pick sides and split her time when it came to parties and social outings, but Mclain didn’t really care unless some other guy dared to talk to her or kept on trying to hound her about breaking up with him. Near the end of the year, Savannah and her friends decided to go on a trip to a little rural town, for fun and for the spring fest. Mclain wanted to go as well, but alas, her friends told him otherwise. Rather than fight about it though, he reluctantly agreed. Yet when he got home and ranted about it to his aunt and uncle about it, their faces went white. They told him the town was a place a place where people often went missing from the festival, yet despite this, it still drew everybody in. Something suspicious lingered there yet they had never bothered to check it out, other hunters in the area claiming that they would take care of it but that never seemed to be the case. Startled by this, Mclain left without so much as a word. When he got there, there was nothing but endless crowds. Seeking Savannah and her friends out was no easy task and as dusk fell and people started to dwindle away, his nerves only seem to skyrocket. Although, soon, he found her friends, startled and scared, but it made Mclain’s anger slowly rise because his own girlfriend wasn’t with them, they had abandoned her. Managing to get some sort of concrete location out of them, he sprinted off and soon found her, bound to a tree with a Pagan God lying in wait. They events that happened next were nothing but a blur for him, and crying sobs for Savannah, but they both made it out alive. The floodgates opened though, and soon came the questions of what had happened and what the hell that thing had been and all sorts of things. Honestly, Mclain didn’t even know what to tell her, how to tell her but he managed to do it and their relationship didn’t end. But he did graduate, his aunt and uncle saying that even though they already knew what life he wanted, they still wanted him to go to college. So he went local and stayed around, which thankfully didn’t put any strain on his relationship at all as Savannah was still stuck in school for the next two years. The years came and went, and while everybody kept on waiting for them to break up, they never seemed to do so but just like his aunt and uncle had suspected, Mclain wanted to hunt and that was all what he did. Sometimes he’d end up leaving for long stretches at the time, but he and Savannah made it work and well, he always came back in the end until one day, something happened and he had to say good bye for good. Mclain had ventured up into North, thought it would be something exciting and there had been reports of animal attacks, but something a little more vicious than any animal that the human world had to offer. When he thought he was the hunter, turned out that he had been the prey. Mclain got ambushed by the werewolf, completely caught off guard and while he managed to escape it with his life, he didn’t leave unchanged for he had a bite where the jaws had clamped down on his arm. He knew what he was now, and what he would no longer be, human. He would be hunted by others, viewed as a danger by even his own family. But Mclain still made his way back to Hot Springs but only for one person, Savannah. When he got there, he explained what happened before breaking up with her, deciding it would be better this way and just like that, he left again to never come back. For the past three years, Mclain had been living a nomadic life, slowly trying to figure out how to control the animal that he becomes every full moon, yet it proves to be a struggle and even now, he fully doesn’t understand it. And there is one other thing that he doesn’t know, for the past three years ever since he left, that Savannah Finch has been searching for him. |
