It had been a long time since the half-demon known as Isabel Grant had set foot out of her safe zone in California, but things didn't seem to be any different in New York since she had went into seclusion. She made her way through Brooklyn, taking a mental assessment of the city as she walked along the busy sidewalks. The humans she passed seemed to be just as self-centered and petty as they had always been, and Isabel still wanted to permanently remove their smug looks as they went about their daily lives when she looked at them.
Her stiletto heels clicked a hypnotic rhythm against the pavement as Isabel reminisced on the past, on the days when she was more concerned with amassing wealth than ensuring her kind stayed on top of the food chain, so to speak. It may have taken a few years for her to become the woman she was today, but she wouldn't go back and change a single thing, at least not anymore. Yes, though the past few months had been difficult, what with her sudden questioning about whether or not she was on the right path, but Isabel Grant was finding herself back in the game with much less reflection time than she normally required. Age did have its benefits she supposed.
With a smile pulling at the corners of her ruby painted lips, Isabel decided she could use a latte before she went shopping, so she paused at the first little cafe she passed, entering in her usual superior way, staring down the humans in an attempt to show who was superior. Luckily for her, a beautiful woman could look at people any way she wanted and still get treated like a queen, so the little barista fell all over himself to get her drink in a hurry, his eyes never straying from the plunging neckline of her black dress as he did. Idiot. She grabbed her drink and dropped a twenty on the counter, sauntering off without waiting for change and taking a seat near a window that overlooked scenic Brooklyn, sipping her drink and wondering what the city would be like if it were dominated by demons.
