((yeah yeah I know cheesy but it too obvious not to use as a title)) As Josh finished covered the truck with dead forest debris he stepped back and took a look at it. Looked pretty good to him, he wouldn't have given it a second glance if he hadn't know it was in there. Mission accomplished, that had taken the better part of a few hours of his life but it was a necessary evil for their safety and survival up there. He had dropped Cassie, Job and their stuff at the cabin, it had belonged to his late Uncle and it was pretty deep in the woods. It wasn't totally backwood though, it had electricity, running water...the sorts of things he'd had to actually go and turn on before taking off to hide the truck. It was one big room, kitchen, table, some chairs a tv with some pretty old dvds, a bathroom and then a latter that went up to the loft where the 'bedroom' was. Pretty basic but he didn't really care. It was better than a hotel room in the fact that it had a kitchen even that was sort of hit or miss. Plus there was a shed out back with the hunting and camping gear so when they needed to leave they could do so quickly. He'd already decided he'd let Cassie and Job have the bed and he could just sleep on the floor. He made a mental not to grab a sleeping bag out of the shed when he got back and he could steal one of he pillows from one of the chairs. Making his way through the trees me made sure not to stick to the main trail, he didn't want to risk being seen, paranoid maybe but he also figured it would be the best way to avoid leading anyone to where they might find the truck. His trek back took the better part of an hour, though the drive had taken no time at all. When the Cabin came into view again, illuminated only by the very dim lights of a setting sun behind the trees he let out a breath of relief. A minute later he was at the door but he hesitated before just walking on in. Lifting his had he knocked on the door "It's me..." he didn't know why he felt the need to announce other than he didn't want to just...walk in. It was dark, in the middle of no where walking it was just sort of asking to be shot, or hit with a baseball bat or something. He waited a second before opening the door, he didn't know what he was afraid to find on the other side at least this set up had somewhat more privacy in certain regards than the previous arrangements, sort of. "Cassie?" he asked closing the door behind him.

†Cassandra LuxeHere I am, a RABBIT HEARTED girl
frozen in the headlights
It's seems I've made the final sacrifice... When they had arrived at their destination, Cassandra realized that even if Josh had told her where they had been going, she wouldn’t have been able to tell anyone. She had dozed off for part of the ride anyways, trying to get the less than stellar goodbyes that she had to deal with. In all honest truth now, the young woman was quite certain that she had no idea where she was other than nestled rather deeply in the woods. It wasn’t something she minded at all, and Job seemed to enjoy the new smells that came with the territory for it had been quite some time since they had been in the woods. The one thing that she was certain that she would have to get herself reacquainted with was the silence. Too long now had she grown accustom to the noise that came with the city life, even when she had been in sleep little towns. In the cabin, and in the woods, there was nothing but silence along with the occasional sound from the birds or the leaves and even though she had Job, without Josh, that silence seemed to become more apparent being out there on her own.
So she decided to distract herself with all the stuff that needed to be unpacked into the kitchen which really hadn’t been that hard since it was just, well, cans and boxes. During this time, Job did nothing more than lay on the ground, attacking a rubber toy that squeaked loudly between the german shepherd’s jaws. The sound carried on, but at least it covered up the silence for now. Taking a step back from the cupboards, Cassandra just glanced over her word, proud to say the least that she accomplished something other than sitting around. Crystal eyes glanced to a clock now, he had been gone for quite some time now, but she told herself not to worry. He was fine; there was no need to panic. She couldn’t worry all the time anyways, it wasn’t healthy and she didn’t want to be one of those girlfriends. Girlfriend. Even just the thought of the word made her smile. She truly was happy being with him, and it had been a long time since she had been truly happy. In the back of her mind though, Cassandra still felt guilt over David, but there was nothing that she could do about it. Not now at least.
Job’s murderous way with the squeaky toy had ceased for a moment, his attention turned towards the door leading out into the back from the house. The action had brought her attention away from Josh and David for the moment, following the dog’s gaze. After a moment of contemplation, Cassandra finally got brave enough to venture towards the window. Dusk had fallen, the sun was setting. There was movement out in the woods, she could see something dark moving amongst the trees before a doe stepped out, flanked by two little fawns. She remembered Josh saying that this had been a hunting cabin for his late uncle, and Cassandra wondered if the animals could sense that he had passed as well as the danger. Her gaze hung on the graceful animals for a moment, scooping out the place before the mother decided it was safe to allow her young ones to eat so she gave them their privacy now. She still had the second level to explore anyways. Grabbing their bags, she headed up stairs though, there really hadn’t been much to explore. The level looked open, and there was just a single bed.
Cassandra was quick to assume that the bed was going to end up being hers since, well, that’s just how Josh was, even though she wanted him to have the bed. After all, he was the recovering from a few injuries still, and it’s not like the hard floor even with the cushioning of a sleeping bag would do him any good. Or, they could just…share. Deep down, she knew that was what she wanted to do. She wanted to give him all that she could offer, and spend every precious moment of time with him when it wasn’t distracting from his path. But she didn’t know how to go about it; she didn’t know how to ask. A sigh escaped her, wishing she could call Samara. She has kids and is married; she clearly knew how to handle everything. Down stairs, the squeaking ceased again, a sound escaping Job as she heard him quickly get up from the ground as he stared at the front door intently just as there was a knock. Cassandra heard the small commotion from her dog, and glanced over the rail into the main area. There was a voice, muffled from being up stairs and the door being shut, but seeing Job wag his tail slightly, she knew it was Josh. The door creaked up now, “Cassie?” Quickly, she just ditched their bags on the bed and headed down stairs, “I’m here! Sorry, I was up stairs,” she apologized quickly, trying to sound sincere because she really did mean it, even if she did have a big fat smile on her face as she closed the distance between them, “Did everything go okay?” ...I must become a LION HEARTED girl Ready for a fight before I make...

He laughed slightly when she came quickly down the stairs toward him. It was just the smile on her face, how happy she looked. He liked it, seeing her happy he couldn't help but smile when she did it was contagious, or maybe it was just the fact that her happiness was all he really wanted, that and her safety which was his motivating reason for bringing them out there. Jesse's words were more of a nightmare than any crucifixion reality could have been.
I might even spare your little girlfriend if you ask nicely enough the words that had been the driving for to get him to use his powers to free himself from the cross, to show Jesse that he had been underestimated for far too long. Angels sound just like humans, just like their vessels, when they are in pain, did you know that? had been his parting words and Josh knew he had to keep Cassie safe no matter the cost. Now, here, they were for now at lest, safe and together and he couldn't have wanted anything more than that.
"That's fine... I just didn't want to walk on in and scare you, all things considered" he admitted. They'd had their door kicked down in the middle of the night not too long ago and despite the fact that it had turned out to be...relatively okay, he didn't want to just burst in anywhere. Plus they were in hiding, unwelcome attention was...well, exactly that, unwelcome.
"Yeah everything went fine" He assured her. Mission was complete, part one at least but he really hadn't been meant to be gone for so long. "sorry I took so long I wanted to make sure it was really well hidden" he admitted his eyes leaving her for a moment to glance around. "Looks like you've been busy unpacking" he said with a smile his hand resting on her lower back as he leaned in and kissed her. "So what do you think so far?" he asked since she'd been the one there alone to somewhat explore the tiny space.
He hadn't checked if everything was still working but since the power was on now he couldn't see why it wouldn't when they'd been in perfectly find working condition before. " I have no idea how old the movie collection is" he started, God last time he'd been up there he was pretty sure he was seventeen, and it had been pretty old then "or how the phone quality is, it was just sort of for emergencies since my Uncle generally liked to keep to himself when he was up here" he admitted with a shrug. He hated to think it but he knew that if his Uncle hadn't have been so... reclusive he would probably never have been targeted as a kill which made Josh feel, somewhat better about the fact that he had someone in his life now.
The thing he did feel bad about this whole thing was the fact that he hadn't even told his parents or his siblings he was vanishing. He couldn't risk them knowing anything, if someone suspected that they knew where he was he hated to think the sorts of harm that could come to them. Letting the negative thoughts leave his mind he decided not to worry... he could think of those things later now he had to keep his attention on his girlfriend. He smiled again at the term, the thought. She was his girlfriend. He glanced down at the ground still smiling almost trying to hide the fact that he was happy. "So um...yeah. We could watch a movie tonight...or God for a walk" though considered he'd just had quite the trek back to the cabin he wasn't so sure he was up for a walk right this second. "Or I could just leave you alone" he added with a slight laugh.

†Cassandra LuxeHere I am, a RABBIT HEARTED girl
frozen in the headlights
It's seems I've made the final sacrifice... He was smiling at her, but she could not help but to think that something might be floating to his mind right now, something that he didn’t want her to know. Cassandra assumed that it had to deal with the reason as to why they were in a cabin in the woods right now. Her mind wandered to when he came back to the hotel room, his hands wrapped up in torn pieces of a shirt due to stigmata wounds left by a meeting with the Anti-Christ. Sometimes, she wanted to know what went down between the two men, and other times she didn’t because if she knew, that meant that her time with Josh would come to an end. “That’s fine,” Josh’s voice broke through her thoughts, “I just didn’t want to walk on in and scare you, all things considered.” Cassandra laughed, shaking her head, “I have Job, if you had been anyone else, he would have started barking.” Something told her though that his little statement had been in regarding to David taking down the door to their hotel room a few nights ago. Funny, that hadn’t been so startling either but she was quite certain that her mind had been more preoccupied with Josh and his current state at the time.
“Yeah, everything went fine. Sorry I took so long, I just wanted to make sure it was really well hidden,” Josh explained to her, though she felt bad. Honestly, he shouldn’t be apologizing for doing something that would help them stay safe, “Looks like you’ve been busy unpacking.” Cassandra smiled, it brighten just a little more if that were even possible when she felt his hand on her lower back, the small gester only made them being together more of a reality in her eyes, “Guilty as charged.” But those were the only words that she managed to get in before he leaned in and kissed her, something that she was glad to return. Even when he pulled away, she moved in closer now, lightly resting against his body as she glanced up at Josh as he asked her what she thought, “It’s quite lovely,” Cassandra commented. She didn’t really think there were any other words to use. Yes, it was small, but it was still bigger than the hotel rooms that they had been using. But there was also the one bed, and she wasn’t sure if she felt like bringing that up quite yet because well, she didn’t know how to go about saying what she wanted, nor did she feel like arguing either, “I have forgotten how different the woods are from the city though. I think adjusting to the stillness will be the biggest thing. For me at least.”
But there was nothing wrong with that, in fact, the quiet was probably something that she had needed for a while and never quite realized it, “I have no idea how old the movie collection is or how the phone quality is, it was just sort of for emergencies since my Uncle generally liked to keep to himself when he was up here,” Josh commented and Cassandra laughed. She did not really care so much as long as they were together, “It’s fine. I’m sure the phone quality is stronger than you think,” it would have to be, or that’s what she hoped. She for one did not get cell service up here so if anything bad were to happen, that landline was their only source into the outside world. Crystal eyes watched for a moment, wondering if he was thinking about what he had left behind. Cassandra felt bad that she got to say good bye to her two friends when he didn’t say anything to his at all, and even more importantly, his family. Whether that had been what he actually been thinking about or not, she would never know but he was smiling now and that was all what she could ask for, even if he did like to try and hide it from her, “So um...yeah. We could watch a movie tonight...or go for a walk Or I could just leave you alone.” The mentioning of a walk caused the mauling of the squeaky toy to stop as Job glanced over at them now, staring. His tail swayed slightly across the floor now, hoping to win over such an idea. Cassandra watched her dog for a moment before glancing, smiling, “Well, I think you’ve left me alone for quite long enough but I understand if you still need a break,” she teased, “But a movie sounds good. You probably need something relaxing after everything anyways…um, hey, how are your stitches?” ...I must become a LION HEARTED girl Ready for a fight before I make...

"Lovely?" he couldn't help but smile. He probably wouldn't go that far but it definitely beat a hotel room. "It's small I know but I figure we can make it work" he said glancing at the loft he knew he should probably bring it up because they were sort of both stubborn in the regard of taking care of each other, but he had dragged her on this crazy adventure so he hoped she just assumed. "You guys can have the loft, I can sleep on the floor, or maybe this couch pulls out or something" He couldn't remember, that probably would have been a good idea to have, but despite his uncles general lack of company he was pretty sure it didn't. He'd be way more comfortable on the floor than the small couch anyway he was pretty sure it'd been okay when he'd been little but he'd long outgrown it.
"Yeah it's pretty quiet" he added. "But... not if you really listen" there were just as many sounds in the woods as there were in the city, birds singing, leaves and branches blowing in the wind, wolves in the distance, deer running on the ground. They weren't a blatant as Sirens or cars roaring down the streets but still there.
"Oh uhh.. I don't know" he admitted. The stitches had sort of been the very last thing on his mind at this point, he had to be honest. Truth was, all things considered he probably shouldn't have been doing half the things he had been. He was, after all human, to an extent or at least he wanted to be and the pain in his side had just been pushed to the back of his mind as he'd done all the lifting especially with the trees. Probably not his best idea. "Fine I'm sure" Didn't feel like he'd ripped them or anything but he couldn't exactly trust his body any more either because he knew that it was healing itself even against his own will. He kind of let his hand go to the wound and didn't flinch but realised no, it hadn't healed, in fact he'd made it worse, were that even possible. Course doing his own stitches had probably been his biggest downfall.
Being... the way he was, not liking people to have to help him, putting himself first, it was probably his Hamartia, and eventually he knew that it was going to get him killed if not by his own hand. "Movie sounds good" he said diverting the subject from himself quickly. "I'll shower first" he admitted because she probably didn't want to be stuck sitting near him in this state not after spending hours in the woods lifting trees and then the long walk back. No, shower was definitely a good idea.
"Then I'll make us something to eat, if you're hungry" Man, it was going to be really awesome to have a kitchen again. He couldn't even remember the last time he'd actually cooked, probably the last time he'd been at home, or maybe on one of his volunteer stints. Either way, it had been a really long time and despite the limited options given the supplies they had to stick with, he was really excited to have an actual home cooked meal.

†Cassandra LuxeHere I am, a RABBIT HEARTED girl

It's seems I've made the final sacrifice... Josh didn’t seem to fully believe in her choice of words for the little cabin, “Lovely? It’s small, I know but I figure we can make it work.” She took another glance around the floor that they were on once more; it was rather lovely, but small. It could totally be the same two words she decided, “It is lovely. It doesn’t make me feel like I’m going to get murdered out here.” And she thought that was a very positive thought considering all the pop culture surrounding, well, cabins in the middle of the woods. She noticed how Josh’s gaze went to the loft now and Cassandra found herself wondering if they had been thinking about the same thing, “You guys can have the loft, I can sleep on the floor, or maybe this couch pulls out or something.” The couch honestly didn’t look like it did, and Josh’s frame was too big to sleep comfortably on that thing. He had mentioned the floor, but she personally didn’t like that idea at all. Not with his shoulder stitches, but at least those had been done by a professional unlike his dream induced wound, “I don’t want the bed,” she said stubbornly, “I want you to have it.” Hopefully, it would be left at that because she truly wasn’t that great at arguing.
The woods though, was evidently not as quiet as it seemed, according to Josh at least, “Yeah, it’s pretty quiet. But not if you really listen.” Cassandra never thought of it like that, it was hard to since she had grown so accustomed to the cities which was strange since her childhood and escape had revolved around the woods. But Josh had a point though, and she knew that, thinking to only ten minutes ago when Job had heard the mother doe and her two little fawns outside, even over the sounds of his squeaky toy. Nature is really on the backburner in her heard though, there was something else that worried Cassandra more than the stillness of the air and that was the man in front of her. She knew that he wouldn’t lie to her, but she couldn’t help but to fear that he might keep something from her because he didn’t want to worry her, “Oh uhhhh…I don’t know,” Josh admitted to the situation of the stitches. Considering how they left Boulder behind, it didn’t really surprise her, “Fine, I’m sure.” Was it wrong of her to not fully trust the answer that had just left his mouth? But Josh was quick, and he quickly managed to draw the conversation away from himself, “Move sounds good.”
Cassandra just stared at him, uncertain of what to say. She wanted to focus the situation back on him, but it didn’t seem like it was going to happen, “I’ll shower first. Then I’ll make us something, if you’re hungry.” She managed a smile at that, “Alright. I’ll take him outside while you shower. Let me know when you’re done, I can try and help with the cooking…even though I’ve never really done it before.” But everything they had came out of a box or a can so she couldn’t imagine it being that hard, plus, it didn’t feel right, having him serve on her, “I’ll just be out on the front step.” Job had gotten up now, dropping his toy on the ground and quickly trotted to the door, glancing back at her, “Coming,” she said with a smile as headed to the door and opened it. Her dog quickly darted outside, and Cassandra was about to follow when she paused. She just couldn’t seem to be able to let go of the stitches thing, maybe she did worried too much. Turning a little, she glanced back towards him now, “Hey Josh, you’ll let me know if something starts to bother you…physically or mentally, because…you know you’re not alone right? I’m here with you.” ...I must become a LION HEARTED girl Ready for a fight before I make...

"Cassie I'm not taking the bed... So either you take the bed or we'll both be sleeping on the floor" he said just as stubbornly. He tried not to think of the fact that he'd just said both be sleeping on the floor as in together. Not really what he had mean though he wasn't exactly opposed to the idea. No. What was he doing that was not even happening, and he had to think about other important things.
"Well... I used to do it all the time at home so hopefully I can remember how. We can figure it out together" he kind of liked the idea of being able to teach her something so... Simple. Well no simple wasn't the right word essential was better. Either way he nodded in agreement and turned to head toward the shower before her words stopped him. He looked at the ground for a moment before the words settled into his mind.
"Yeah... Of course" he assured her turning his eyes to look at her again he offered a reassuring smile. The stitches were no big deal as far as he was concerned but if it became a problem he'd tell her. In theory. "That goes for you too you know if any things on your mind" he said smiling before he continued his way to the shower.
Closing the door behind him he stripped off his clothes and took a look at his stitches. His shoulder was... Healing well actually but his side was another story. "Jesus" he muttered at the site and just closed his eyes in disbelief at his own words. "Funny" he muttered to himself or to whatever had compelled him to use the expression. The area was definitely tearing he was going to have to be careful with his lifting. Turning on the shower he tried to forget about it as he got in and let the warm water wash the day away. Once he was finished he grabbed a towel and wrapped it around his waist as he headed back into the cabin and to his bags to change. He didn't think much of it since Cassie and Job were outside. Once he got fresh jeans on he placed his shirt aside as he cleaned his stitches carefully before covering the wound with more bandages to keep it clean. Pulling his shirt on carefully he pushing his damp hair back off his face before he headed outside. "Hey" he said taking a seat on the steps.

It's seems I've made the final sacrifice... She hadn’t really been sure on what she had been expecting, but the second half of the answer to come out of Josh’s mouth took her a little by surprise, “Cassie I’m not taking the bed…So either you take the bed or we’ll both be sleeping on the floor.” He sounded stubborn, just as stubborn as she did. Cassandra huffed a little, but she left it at that. There wasn’t really much of a reason to argue at the current moment, it was clear that they both weren’t going to let up about who gets the bed. Things would be a lot simpler if she actually knew more about how to go about things with a guy, but sadly this was not the case. Cassandra also knew that there were far more important things that she should probably be helping Josh with rather than their relationship, which was probably trivial compared to the burden that sat on his shoulders. The other thing that probably saved them from arguing even more was the conversation of cooking, but it only saved them for a tiny bit. Crystal eyes watched as he stopped in his tracks, glancing down at the floor for what seemed like centuries before he finally looked back at her, “Yeah…of course. That goes for you too, you know, if anything’s on your mind.”
Josh sounded reassuring, he looked it as well. Cassandra only offered him a smile, “Okay,” she managed as he turned and headed up the stairs to the shower. Watching him go though, the young woman found herself uncertain on whether she believed his words. He could be dying and he probably still wouldn’t’ tell her because he didn’t want to be the burden. Sometimes, selflessness could be a downfall all in its own. A sigh escaped Cassandra as she scooped up a tennis ball, went outside, and sat on the top step of the porch. The white german shepherd had been scooping out the perimeter of the land surrounding the cabin, or at least it’s little clearing. He was clearly happy to be stretching his legs out again and trotting around in the grass rather than be kept up in the cabin. She probably should have left him out sooner; after all, Job would always come back to her. There was no doubt in her mind about that. Speaking of her dog, he came trotting over to her now, “What am I going to do with him Job?” she asked her dog, but Job’s attention seemed far more interested in the yellow ball in her hand. Smiling, Cassandra tossed it and watched the dog sprint after it, her mind slowly wandering back to the bed.
An idea struck her, vaguely. She could just shove the mattress of the bed and put it on the ground. Therefore, Josh technically would still be sleeping on the floor if it was really that big of a deal. Cassandra couldn’t help but to smile at her own genius idea, though there was always that part of pulling it off which might cause a problem. The rest of this plan would probably have to be figured out later though, because she heard footsteps and then the door open. It wasn’t long before Josh was sitting on the steps next to her, his hair still damp from his shower, “Hey.” She bit her lower lip, smiling at his simple greeting and she didn’t know why. It was probably just Josh himself though, gone were her stubborn annoyances about the bed, for now at least, “Hi…have a nice shower?” she asked, though she already knew the answer to that. It wasn’t long before they were joined by Job now, who came back from retrieving the tennis ball and he trotted right up to Josh now, pushing the ball up against Josh’s leg as he chomped down at the ball at the same time, as if he were including the human on the fun game of chewing the tennis ball, “I think he wants you to throw it.” ...I must become a LION HEARTED girl Ready for a fight before I make...

As he sat beside her he couldn't only imagine what she was thinking about the bed. They'd already argued about it and he really didn't want to argue about it again but he knew her well enough to know that she wasn't going to let it go that easily. He also knew that he was too stubborn to have it turn out how she was proposing it. He had dragged her along on this journey the least she could do was take the bed for comfort to make him feel a little less guilty about it.
He watched her smile and couldn't help but grin as she just seemed to smile for a moment. A small laugh escape as he shrugged his shoulders gently at the idea of how his shoulder was. He didn't really know how to say it was. It was fine, as most showers were. "Fine" he said. It was nice to feel clean again and know that he likely wasn't going to have to go trekking quite that far anytime soon.
"Hey buddy" he said as Job approached and smiled wrestling the ball from the dogs mouth gently be he stood up and ran a little ways faking the throw on way before he sent it barrelling into the distance bouncing slightly into the trees. "whoa" He muttered he hadn't mean to throw it quite that far, figuring he'd just underestimated the weight of the ball well, at least he was giving Job a big of a workout.
That was probably the upside of being out in the wild, so far they'd been cooped up in hotel rooms and while Job got to walk around with Cassie during the day it wasn't quite the same freedom that a dog really needed, especially a dog his size. "Sorry..."He said to Job and took a seat beside Cassie again. "maybe I should leave the throwing to you" he said with a shrug. "What do you want to eat?" he asked her currently their options were pretty limited and he hadn't cooked for her yet so this was definitely going to be an adventure.

It's seems I've made the final sacrifice... The argument still seemed to hang in the air, unspoken, but it was there. Cassandra didn’t say anything though, she thought she’d just let it go. For now at least, they were both too stubborn for their own good. She found herself pretty certain that she already knew his argument; that he dragged her out on this crazy adventure and was making her live in the dark ages. But, she was the one who agreed to it, she knew what she had been getting herself into so if anything, Cassandra figured that she was the one to blame. That being said though, she was going to drop it because well, she found herself a little unable to concentrate on being annoyed at him for too long. Not while he held her gaze, and certainly not while he grinned like that. Her question probably proved to be a silly one and it demonstrated its affect with Josh’s simple shrug of his shoulders and his laugh, but he answered her anyways, “Fine.”
Cassandra laughed as smile, quietly as she continued to smile, “I’m glad,” she replied now, glancing to the approaching dog, “Hey buddy.” She couldn’t help but to find it a little comforting that Josh took well to Job. Not that her people interaction had been many but sometimes, she heard that not everyone adapted well to another person’s animal. It didn’t seem to be the case though, and her dog took well to Josh, strangely well and it just made her glad. The german shepherd trotted after Josh, eyes keeping a close watch on the tennis ball in the human’s hand, trying to figure out when he’d throw it. The fake out nearly got Job, nearly as he started to move but then stop abruptly before the real throw came. Cassandra watch the german shepherd take off now, chasing after the ball as he disappeared from her sight and into the woods. She didn’t really feel worried about it though, Job would come back, he always did and they were in the middle of nowhere, for once, it felt like her dog didn’t need to protect them from anything.
It wasn’t long before Josh was sitting beside her once more and subconsciously, Cassandra moved over a little more to be closer to him, her leg brushing up against his for a millisecond before the contact broke. “Maybe I should leave the throwing to you,” he commented now but she only shook her head, “No, you can get it farther than I ever could.” Although, if it was going to rip open his stitches than maybe she might want to rethink asking. But Josh would tell her about that, or she assumed he would. Maybe she did worry about him too much. She never got too much time to worry about things though for her cut her thoughts short, “What do you want to eat?” Now there was a daunting question, mostly because she didn’t know what she wanted to eat. Probably something simple though seeing as he hadn’t cooked in a while and well, she didn’t know how to, “Uh…pasta?” she asked now, glancing back over at him before smiling a little, “You’re the one who knows how to cook so…I guess it’s more of what you’re willing to risk your life over attempting to teach me.” ...I must become a LION HEARTED girl Ready for a fight before I make...

“Yeah I just don't want to get him too lost in there...I guess he's smart enough to find his way back, and he probably enjoys the exercise” she said thoughtfully as Job chased after the ball. He just worried about Job as much as he did Cassie. He loved animals, they were always the best judge of character, they seemed to have an instinct about people that humans simply didn't have, or maybe they just ignored it after so many years of evolution. He knew also that Job was all Cassie had in the way of family, he hated to think of her being without him.
“Well I'm a bit rusty I haven't had to cook in ages so it's a risk on both our parts” He teased though Pasta seemed like a good place to start considering it was mostly just a matter of boiling pasta and opening a lot of cans and bottles. “Pasta seems like a good idea though to start with simple enough and I'm pretty sure we can manage it without disaster...no promises though” he added leaning over he quickly captured her lips in a kiss.
He wasn't sure if he was going to ever get over the feeling of happiness it gave him just being able to kiss her. There was just something freeing about knowing he could kiss her whenever he wanted, just because he felt like, or because she deserved it. He liked to think, that he would have all the time in the world to just be there sitting with her on the steps, but somehow he knew deep down that wasn't true.
He could brush his dreams off as much as he liked but he knew they were more than just dreams, they were a prophecy. There was a very likely chance he would die and he would lose this time, this connection when he did, the one selfish thing he was going to allow himself now was just to enjoy the time he did have left, and make sure Cassie and Job were taken care of and protected. Breaking the kiss he leaned back taking a moment just to brush her hair back off her face before he stood offering his hand to help her up.
“Come on lets see what kind of damage we can do” he said. In the kitchen, obviously...that was obvious right? He was about to add it in but figured correctly, or adding on would simply add to the point that he might possibly have meant something else, which he honestly hadn't.
