Josh didn't even realise he'd fallen asleep on the ground at some point during the day one minute he'd been reading the next he'd been out cold and only now, as he had woken up realise what had happened in between. Sitting up the only indication that time had passed was the fact that through the window he could catch a vague glimpse of a setting sun on the horizon.
Well that had been a waste of a day but it had always been the first time he'd fallen asleep in a while, really truly asleep and been able to sleep right through it all, no nightmares, no thoughts at all just sleep. Maybe he had eventually over tired himself, to the point of exhaustion where his mind didn't even have the energy to create the dreams, let alone make them feel real.
A smile crossed his lips at the idea that he'd slept sound, maybe the light was the key to it? He'd have to go nocturnal or something avoid sleeping when the sun was down, vampire style. He wasn't sure how long that would last for, he lived for sunlight, he loved the warmth and how it made you feel after a day in it, exhausted but blissful at the same time, relaxed even.
A thought settled in slightly...where was Cassie? Job? Sitting up he stood from the floor avoiding the ceiling of the loft, best he could. It hadn't been exactly built friendly for someone of his height, he had almost smacked his head several times already and with his luck he'd do it hard enough to knock himself out, he could anticipate that coming. God, he wasn't going to sleep now he had never felt more awake.
Movie down to the kitchen he movie to get a glass of water. Lifting the cup for his first sip he froze and winced slightly raising his free hand to his head. "What the-" he said quietly but didn't have much time to think about it before the pain spread almost enough to make him want to scream but he didn't he dropped the glass and gripped the sides of his head with both hands as his mind filled with images he didn't recognize.

†Cassandra LuxeHere I am, a RABBIT HEARTED girl
frozen in the headlights
It's seems I've made the final sacrifice... She had been out all day after noticing that Josh had fallen soundly asleep and seeing as she was certain that he hadn’t been getting any good sleep since that night in the hotel room. Cassandra had let him be and took the dog out so that they wouldn’t disturb him in the slightest, it also gave her some time of her own to try and put her thoughts together. Besides, she liked the forest and the comfort it provided. They were so familiar to her even though this had been the first time that Cassandra had even set foot into them, but she always sensed something tranquil about it, that and the water. After a bit of wandering, and Job poking his head countless times into animal dens where it shouldn’t be, they had stumbled upon a clearing with a little brook running on through it and it was there that they had made camp for the day. Crystal eyes watched her dog, who took happily to lounging about in the sunlight for as long as it would have them, clearly, he was enjoying the peace as much as she had been. Biting her lip to hide her faint smile, Cassandra’s gaze returned to the brook.
The water bubbled and talked as if it were human, and every now and then, a bird would come and wash itself quickly before it flew away. The wild life seemed to pay no mind to them and continued their daily routine with a watchful eye. It seemed like a nice life, but now she wasn’t even if she’d trade hers for it. After everything that had happened, Cassandra finally felt grounded thanks to Josh, but she knew the end wasn’t even near. All of this time spending out here, how they left behind all of the people they knew so he could figure things out but it didn’t look as if there was an answer at all, or at least not a specific one. The thought made her sigh, wishing all of this came easier, but she supposed that just isn’t how life worked. But even in the bible, Cassandra was certain that there had been signs. Why wasn’t God granting them to him now? Especially after Josh running into the Anti-Christ in Colorado? The thought of Jesse Turner made her nervous, and so did those wounds that he left in her boyfriend’s hands. A shiver ran down her spine at the thought, and quickly she shoved it to the back of her mind, not wanting to remember the blood or the pain it had caused Josh.
With the sun starting to set on them, and after all of that thought, Cassandra knew she had to be brave, for Josh, for herself, for the both of them. But it proved to be hard when the past seven years of her life have been nothing but fearful. Crystal eyes glanced down at the script on her forearm, her index finger tracing over the words as if they would give her the courage she needed, “Be a lion, not a lamb, Cassie,” she murmured to herself. And just like that, something hit her, but not in courage or bravery at all, it was fear. Something seemed to shift in the air, in her mind and her gaze snapped up and glanced to the white dog. Job had sensed it too, the white german shepherd was up and staring back in which they had come from, towards the cabin, “Josh.” They were the only words that left her lips but even now, they explained everything as she scrambled to get up as Job took off. Cassandra ran after him through the woods, and even now it seemed as if it were trying to work against her as branches clawed at her, but that heart pounding fear kept her going as she broke into the clearing with the cabin just up ahead. Her dog was already there, slamming into the door and barking up a storm when she skipped the steps and quickly opened the door up, trying not to stumble over her dog as they got inside, “Josh?!”
Even from the doorway, she spotted him quickly in the kitchen with shattered glass and water on the ground. He was clutching his head and once more, looked like he was in pain. But she knew that look all too well for she had experienced it herself many times: someone was talking to him. Cassandra moved quickly to him now, coming up right besides him now she placed a hand on his arm, letting Josh know that she was there for there was nothing else that she could do. Whatever, or whoever, was talking to him wouldn’t stop until they were done. Crystal eyes just watched him with worry while the white dog stuck to the edge of the room, avoiding the broken glass. ...I must become a LION HEARTED girl Ready for a fight before I make...

Josh gripped the counter still holding himself steady as he tried to focus on what he was seeing, hearing. The photos were bright, blinding as he tried to make them clear they came quickly in blurs one after another there was only one word that seemed clear. The voices were clearer their words at least, crisp, the manner in which they were being delivered however made about as little sense as the jumbled photos were. Sword, Joshua, the sword whatever that was supposed to mean he didn't know. He'd never held a sword in his life, he'd never even seen one.
You know it he didn't! They could tell him all they liked but he didn't know what they were talking about. The girl knows they started, there was too many of them talking at once now he was trying to pick and choose what was important and what was merely mindless chatter. They seemed to be arguing, or it felt angry at least as his brain pounded as though they were all inside of there begging to gain control of him. Go you'll find it he caught now but he could only feel his muscles tensing as they continued.
A sudden presence of a hand on his arm instantly caused his tense muscles to relaxed and he felt calmer, more focused. His breathing steadied, he hadn't even noticed the fact that he'd been holding his breath before as the pictures came slower, clearer the words less jumbled but still, not quite making sense. "Adelaide" he said outloud and with a slight gasp he felt himself released from their hold his eyes opened against the sight blurred, but quickly focused on Cassie standing by his side.
His skin was damp he could feel it as his shirt stuck to his skin. Adelaide? What did that mean? They obviously thought he knew enough now they could leave him alone but that could be anything. The first thing that came to mind was the City, which was in Australia, he couldn't imagine they wanted him to be taking a surfing vacation at the moment not with everything hanging in the balance. It was also a name, a womans name. The voice reminded him The girl will know was this the girl they were talking about? His first thought had been Cassie, that she would know, but the more he thought about that possibility the less it seemed to make sense. If she knew what he needed to end this, they would have found it a long time ago.
His eyes fell to her again and could not have been more glad to see her. "Cassie" he said his arm quickly moved to hug her. It made sense now, the hand, had been hers she had been the reason he'd been able to calm down to focus. "You okay?" he asked. A silly question considering she'd just walked up to him in the state he was in but typical Josh fashion his priorities always lay outside of himself with the people he cared about coming before anything else.

It's seems I've made the final sacrifice... She did not like this. She didn’t like this at all. Feeling so useless and even worse, there was nothing she could do other than to wait for it to pass or for Josh to break the conversation that he was having. His arm was cold and damp from sweat, but to Cassandra, it felt like he was already dead despite standing right in front of her. Her worry only grew even more as she was tempted to speak again despite it having very little effect. However, she did not have to even try, “Adelaide.” The word caught her off guard as it left Josh’s lips and the pain seemed to wash out of his body now. Cassandra allowed herself to relax, but only a little as she took him in. His blue eyes on her and yet she felt like he hardly noticed her, his thoughts elsewhere and maybe on this…Adelaide. Whomever or whatever it was, it must have been important if the angels decided to have a conversation with him. That and maybe, this was the answer that he had been looking for. If it is, then their days together were truly coming to an end.
“Cassie.” Relief washed over her the moment he said her name, it felt as if this was the first time he ever noticed her. She managed a weak smile as his arm pulled her into a hug. Cassandra gladly accepted the embrace even with his damp shirt. Pressing herself against him, she wrapped her hands around his torso and did nothing but remain silent, glad that what had passed was over, “You okay?” His question caught her off guard and even felt puzzled by it. That was her question; she should be the one asking it. Something inside of her bubbled a little, causing her to drop her arms and free herself from the embrace now as she took a step back, glancing up at him. She found herself trying to figure out sensible words, but they almost seem like a loss, “How can you even ask me that?” Her voice sounded shaky and a little out of control, “No Josh. I’m not okay. I just walked in on you in pain and there was nothing I could do about! And I feel it’s just going to keep on going to be like this until you…” she couldn’t even bring herself to say it and it made her feel weak. Well, she was weak but she was trying to be strong, but now, she wasn’t even sure if people saw her as that. Cassandra didn’t bother with the rest of her rant for fear of crying; she just turned and headed upstairs.
From the doorway, Job had been watching all along and the dog was a little startled by the turn of events. Was his human actually…angry? He’d never seen her like this. Amber eyes glanced to Josh now, clearly puzzled but quickly decided that this was a human only thing. Josh is the one in trouble, not himself, and with that, the dog backed out and quickly retreated outside. Upstairs, Cassandra sat on the bed. Ironically enough, it was the first time she was even doing so since moving in for she never took it. She found herself trying to control her emotions, steady her breathing, and trying to not to cry. The young woman wasn’t even sure as to what had come over her just then…maybe just pent up emotions but even then that sounded wrong. She loved Josh. Maybe she didn’t know how to translate it but she loved him and wanted the best for him even though he wanted the same for her. They put each other ahead of one another and it caused the riffs. A sigh escaped her, leaning back against the headboard and glancing off. She was being so foolish, she should be asking him about Adelaide but she couldn’t even bring herself to face him now. ...I must become a LION HEARTED girl Ready for a fight before I make...

Holding her tightly for the short time he had was bliss, pure and simple but after his question it ended as she pulled herself back from him and stared at him like he was crazy. Okay, maybe he was a little bit, he realized she probably should have been posing that question to him all things considered. As she somewhat freaked out Josh was taken a back, not because she didn't have the right to but just because it was something he'd never seen before. He knew what she was saying, or trying to say. It felt like they had less time until he was possibly, or probably going to die. He was silent for a moment until her words trailed off and she just turned and disappeared up the stairs. "Cassie-" he started but let her go for a moment leaning back against the counter a sigh escaping. Lifting his hand to his forehead he thought to himself for a moment. It was easy to pretend everything was okay, but he realized now that it was really just a delusion for both of them.
Lowering his hand his eyes met Job who looked confused and surprised as he did which made him feel a little better. Leaning down he quickly picked up the glass pieces off the ground tossing them in a bag before he carefully made his way across the room and followed her path up the stairs. As he reached the top he watched her sitting on the bed leaning against the head board staring off at what seemed like nothing but he knew that look, the thoughtful look where everything was piling up on top of each other.
"Hey" he said softly sliding onto the bed to sit beside her. He watched her for a moment before he carefully took her hand hoping she wasn't going to pull away from him again. "You know you said you couldn't do anything but...you don't even realize that you did" he assured her. He wasn't lying either, her touch had been what had calmed him down, cleared his mind and let the pain subside enough to actually get a clear focus on what was going on.
"When you put your hand on my arm... I could feel it and just knowing you were there it calmed me down, it let me focus... you don't even know how amazing you are to me" he said and caught himself for a moment. That hadn't been quite what he meant to say but it was also the truth even if he hadn't quite been planning on saying it like that.

†Cassandra LuxeHere I am, a RABBIT HEARTED girl
frozen in the headlights
It's seems I've made the final sacrifice... She still couldn’t get over what had happened, how she had freaked out on him and her words. Did they make her selfish? Cassandra couldn’t be sure but she felt that way, for once thinking about how she was not entirely human with tiny strands of angel DNA running through her system. After all, selfish angels were the ones who fell, or at least, that was finally her impression of them, of herself. The cabin seemed quit still after her explosion, nothing could be heard and everything was silent. Josh had remained downstairs along with Job; perhaps she really had gone off the deep end, the real deep end and not the chaos that hearing angels talk had given her. Something stirred in the silence now though, footsteps on the stairs. Loud and echoing, but her crystal eyes refused to stray from the spot in the room that held all of her thoughts and confusions in that very moment. She would not look at him. It was easier said than done though the moment he came to the top of the stairs. His eyes were on her, and Cassandra felt fully aware of that. Whenever he was around, she felt as if she had developed unnatural senses, like a superhero, yet they only pertained to him. How he took up the room, whether he his eyes were on her or not, or most importantly to her, how close he was. The footsteps started up again before there was pressure to her left, the mattress sinking a bit at the welcoming of another person.
“Hey.” Cassandra didn’t say anything, she didn’t even return his gaze but she felt the chill of an adrenaline rush once again with him being so near. It didn’t use to be like that whenever he was by her, there was always something even before they dated, but nothing like this. She merely blamed it on her haywire emotions right now currently. As his hand encompassed hers though, calloused digits running over her soft skin, Cassandra’s gaze moved to watch as Josh spoke, “You know you said you couldn’t do anything but…you don’t even realize that you did. When you put your hand on my arm…I could feel it and just knowing you were there, it calmed me down, it let me focus…” Josh wasn’t lying, she was pretty certain that he didn’t even know how to lie. Perhaps he’d ignore telling her something or only promise in theory that he would, but he would never lie, “You don’t even know how amazing you are to me.” That did it. Cassandra felt her gaze snap up from their intertwined hands now to his face. For a moment, she almost wasn’t even sure if she had heard him correctly even though she knew she did. Something in her stirred, she should just drop all of this. She should be asking about the talk he just had, who Adelaide is, to put everything on hold for destiny.
But in that moment, Cassandra knew she was selfish. She shifted her weight now, to move in closer to him as well as look at him. And while she hardly felt aware of it now, her knee brushed up against his thigh, although instead of moving, it rested there lightly. There were butterflies in her stomach along with that adrenaline chill from his closeness. Her heart was trying to break her out of her rib cage as she tried to figure out what to say with some reason of sense after her last display of emotions, “The reason why I always put you before me and the reason why…why I said those things down stairs, it’s not because of destiny or a sense of duty, but it’s because I love you Josh.” And just like that, something seemed to click inside of her as her resting knee slid of his thigh now and then his other to where she was on top of him. Her fingertips brushed at the hem of his shirt before she took hold of it and slowly pulled it off of him now, exposing his bare skin. Cassandra’s hands rested lightly on his chest before sliding up, one stopping at his collar bone but the other slid up his neck and cupped around his strong jaw bone now, her thumb brushing across his lower lip. Crystal eyes met his one last time before they dropped his gaze, and she leaned in and kissed him, pushing up against his body now and him into the headboard. She was going to show Josh just how much she loved him.
-Sooo, I was going to be a whore and fade this into black, but I figured I’d let you make that call since you're the other half- ...I must become a LION HEARTED girl Ready for a fight before I make...
