Lia had not even thought about having to deal with another Louisiana summer pregnant, until it had happened. The only saving grace was the fact that she really didn’t have to spend all that much time at home if she didn’t want to. She had a lot of things to get to help make Lizzie’s room big enough for two, or at least equipped enough for both of them. Taking in a slow breath she closed her eyes as she felt a breeze enter through the window. She had every window in the house open in hopes that they would catch an occasional cool breeze, she’s also set up fans in every room including Lizzie’s otherwise she was sure her baby would pass out if it got any warmer.
Speaking of her daughter her eyes fell to the chair on the floor where she was strapped in. Lia smiled as matching green eyes stared back at her. It was so terrifying to see how alert she was now. She still had a little trouble side sitting and if you didn’t hold her back with your hand she had a tendency to just start to fall over. She was already Seven months old, that blew her mind especially since she was already 5 months pregnant with her son. That hadn’t been the best planning on her part, but then again it hadn’t been planned.
Rest her had on her stomach she had to admit she was having a much easier time with this pregnancy than she had with Lizzie. Maybe it was the lack of death defying stunts she was having to pull this time around, or maybe it was just because she was taking better care of herself and she didn’t have the stress of Rocky anymore. Now things with them were solid, more than they’d ever been before. Having lost and been given him back, the little things didn’t stress her out anymore she just let them go. Maybe it had something to do with what Joshua Van Buren had done to she and Lizzie near the end, after all the doctor had said she was somehow completely healed. Either way, it was going well and in a few short months she was going to be a mother to two babies before she’d even celebrated her first Christmas with her husband.
The thought was terrifying but she was still trying to wrap her head around the idea. Taking a sip of her lemonade she smiled as she watched Lizzie hold her arms out for her. Leaning over she unbuckled her and laid down laying Lizzie on her stomach. It was funny to watch her press her ear against it and just lay there as though she were listening to her brother’s secrets. “What’s he telling you Liz?” she asked jokingly and as if he knew he was being left out Stryker came bounding into the room. He was so big now. He’d gone from a tiny little puppy she could hold in her arms to a puppy that was almost taking up the entire couch when he climbed up to snuggle. He seemed to think he was a lap dog and she had to make sure he was carefully especially with Lizzie and herself in her current state.
“Lay down stryker” she told him and he stopped for a minute before he did as he was told. She watched as Lizzie reached for his fur and closed her little fist around it. He didn’t seem to mind when she tugged on him, in fact he usually just let her pull on his ears, his fur, his collar. It actually surprised her how calm such a big dog was with such a little baby. It was times like these she sort of wished they already lived at a beach so they could just go outside and lay by the ocean and not have to worry about Alligators or anything else climbing into their back yards from the bayou and swamps. God it was hot, maybe she could take Lizzie to a pool or something, but then again the idea of her baby in a public neighbourhood pool was kind of gross, maybe not.
