Miguel stepped off the the plane with one last grin to the girl who'd been sitting beside him on the flight over. He'd gotten a phone number and he wasn't sure if he'd use it, may as well since he was only going to be in the city for couple days wasn't like he had any commitments back home anymore, besides even if he did it wouldn't matter he knew he would never get caught.
His whole life had been a series of 'that would never happen to me' moments and so far it had been true. Even at home when he'd been younger he'd had sort of an easy ride. It was true that he worked hard for everything he had but he had never known failure. Whatever he put his mind to, he got and he liked it that way. His brother on the other hand...well, honestly he didn't know where things had gone wrong. In a lot of ways they were similar but then in other ways so far apart.
Had he done things wrong? Yes, he was just smart enough not to get caught. The pressure to be perfect sometimes got to him, but he was strong enough to deal with it. Moving through the airport now he made his way to the doors and grabbed a taxi to the hotel. Two days observing and evaluating their performance was hardly enough time but this was one of the smaller chains and honestly not a huge concern for him, or the company. It was mostly just an appearance more than anything.
Most times he spent a week to two weeks there. It was sort of nice, basically he got to be a guest and he didn't have to pay for anything, it was a sweet life especially when he got to go all over the country and hopefully if he did a good enough job those travel opportunities were going to extend around the world. Of course all his travel had been part of the reason Carina had left him. So much for the promise of engagement. He tried to pretend like it didn't even phase him, but the truth was his methods of coping were crap.
Mostly they consisted of finding the first bar he set his eyes on and delving into a bottle of alcohol. Speaking of which. He got his car rental and drove along the street until he spotted the first half decent looking bar in town and he pulled into the parking lot. He could cab it from there to the hotel and back again if he needed to. Putting the car into park he took the keys and got out entering into the bar.
He made his way to the bar immediately and took a glance around the room. It was pretty busy in there considering it was a weeknight but he knew the more people in the bar the better chances were he'd had a good night. Turning to the bartender he ordered a double jack on the rocks and took a seat.
