How in the hell had he ended up here?! Kaleb had been in the states for no more than a week and already he was on the move. Driving a motorcycle from the south to the north was life going from a photo to its negative and it didn't sit well with Kaleb at all. The clan needed more people in America! If he werent mistaken there were maybe five of his clan mates scattered around America and only god and the demons know what they were up to. Kaleb was looking into a few leads for a few possible targets. Little had he known that this search would lead him almost complete across the country. Kaleb was tired of the cold, it had started to seep through his leather jacket straight into his bones and he was shaking like a little puppy in a dark alley. And so when he saw the diner sign he was all too eager to pull over.
Once he was inside the warmth of the heated air immediately soothed him. He unzipped his jacket and removed his Oakleys and scanned the area. A few patrons, most likely locals. The diner seemed safe enough and so he moved over the the booth in the corner before taking his seat. The sun was just setting and night was beginning to form up around the area. It was going to get a lot colder. When the waitress came over Kaleb flashed a kind smile before saying "I'll just have a cup of coffee dear, thank you". The woman nodded and smiled at his accent. Being direct from Ireland, Kaleb's Irish accent could practically be seen in the air like a smoke signal that read 'Look at me! I'm a foreigner!'.
As Kaleb waited for his coffee he pulled out his road map from his pocket and started reviewing. Crapola! He had taken a wrong turn and gone completely off target. He was nearly five towns away from his objective and was heading the wrong way. Looked like it was going to be a long night ride. Kaleb noticed the ash tray and sent a silent thank you prayer to the god of tobacco 'Thanks for understanding big guy!'. Kaleb lit up a cigarette and continued to map out his route only stopping to say thank you for his coffee once the waitress brought it to him he then stopped her and asked "Excuse me lass but I need help, can you tell me the best way to get to this town here?". She smiled at his accent again before saying "Just turn you bike East and stay on the main road. You will be there in no time". Kaleb smiled and nodded his thanks before returning to his map. He slowly pulled out the notebook with all his information on his targets and lead and began to review, tuning out the rest of the world.

Her eyes fell to an accent that was quite clearly out of place here. She shouldn't have been listening in on other peoples conversations but she couldn't help herself, it was just part of her genes, part of her training. The best hunters were those that could listen, observe and pick up on what other people seemed to miss.
Mind your own business Bobbi she thought to herself but she knew, she knew that wasn't the best way. The most popular sure, maybe even the easiest but certainly not the fastest, or the more stealth. Course what she she know, maybe he was looking for a way to stay on the straight and narrow not deviate from the norm, that was something she was certainly not used to. Sure, maybe at one point she had strove for normalcy but that had been before her Dad had taken off on this mysterious hunt, before she'd discovered she had cousins an family she never even knew existed.
Turning eighteen had meant the freedom to make her own decisions and that included the decision to drop out of school and hit the road hunting full time. The truth was hunting was just sort of a distraction at this point. If she found a case, she would follow it and finish it but she was really hunting something else, someone else entirely. Her father. Sam Winchester had been hunting for as long as she could remember, he'd touch her how to protect herself from the moments he could walk and at school, and in the neighbourhood she put on the brave face while evenings and weekends were spent training like soldiers or away on hunts.
She'd always admired her dad, and never thought of any other life but hunting. It wasn't as if she had to do the criminal side of it, her mother made enough money running the auction house, and her grandparents had given her quite a sufficient trust fund. She only have limited access to it now but she knew that was probably for the best, that way she could pace out her spending and really make it last. She'd come down here because she'd put out the red flag for her father and every few weeks or so an old friend would call her and let her know he'd been in town, or at last that he'd been rumored to be nearby. It seemed as thought by the time she got there he'd always gone, moved on.
She hadn't seen him in months, not since he had stopped her from going to meet her cousins, her Uncle Dean, all the family she'd never even known she had. Truth was, she'd kept her distance, even after having told her father that she wasn't going to, they didn't need this life if they could help it, just because it'd been placed upon her didn't mean she had to pull anyone else into it. "that's not the best way" she spoke up and quickly mentally scolded herself for it. "I'm sorry...It's really none of my business" she admitted and turned her attention to her food now.

Kaleb was deep in thpught trying to map out the route when his attention was suddenly broken by the sound of a young woman's voice. He looked up quickly and searched until his eyes fell upon her. She was young but not too young. Either late teens or early twenties. And judging by her face she was going through some form of inner turmoil. Kaleb understood the feeling. He had been there before and had only barely managed to escape. He smiled when she corrected herself and tried to return to being unnoticed. Kaleb couldn't help grinning as he stood up and walked over to her table and sitting down. He made sure to put his cigarette out away from her since it seemed nowadays more and more people abhorred cigarettes. He then pulled up a chair and sat down across from her with his coffee in one hand and the map in the other.
He smiled as he said "Thanks for pointing that out to me lass, think you might be able to show me the fastest route? I have a big schedule to keep and since I'm on a motorcycle I don't wanna be out in the cold any longer than I need to be ya know?". Yet again his accent was bare to the world like a giant green fog that suffocated him. Then again plenty of people enjoyed it so he wasn't to bothered by it. Besides he was proud to be an Irishman. He wasn't sure why but he suddenly got a stupid idea in his head and slowly reached over to offer her his hand as he said "Nice to meet ya, my names Kaleb McPhail. Mind if I ask you your name?". Giving his real name was never the best choice seeing as he was a hunter but Kaleb was stubborn as a mule so he nevere thought out the repercussions of his choices.
As Kaleb waited for her reply he scanned the rest of the diner. He mustve been really cold to have let this beautiful lass escape his sights. And she was beautiful, something Kaleb always had a problem trying to avoid. Beautiful girl equaled flirting for hours for Kaleb. He smiled wickedly as he said "I hope you dont mind me saying but this doesnt seem like the perfect place for young beauty like yourself to be alone at night. Shouldnt you be at home with your boyfriend or your family?". Old Kaleb, he was as direct as a runaway train. He flashed his famous cocky grin before adding "Maybe if your not too busy you could come with me. I'm mainly on a business trip here and business is too boring. Too many devils and not enough bullets if you know what I mean". Leave it to Kaleb to almost reveal an innocent girl to the supernatural community right after meeting her. Of course Kaleb wasnt so sure Ehud didnt already know. Judging by her body language mixed with her tonnage and he blatant use of intelligence tactics she obviously had been trained by a professional. The only question was a professional what?

Bobbi wasn't really sure what she had been expecting as a response to her rude cut in comment but looking up to find the guy pulling a seat up to her table had not been one of them. She opened her mouth to protest but she couldn't find the sound the do so. By that point he was already sitting across from her with his coffee in one hand and map in the other, she couldn't very well say no, besides she had been the one stupid enough not to mind her own business she supposed it was the least she could do to show him the way. "Sure" she said her voice far less sure of herself now than she had been a minute or so earlier.
She went through waves of outspokenness, but she wasn't so great at being the centre of attention, especially not when there a complete stranger waiting for her to say something. She tried not to look at him and instead kept her eyes trained on the map in front of her "Yeah I wouldn't really know my car is pretty warm all the time she admitted, besides I'm used to it" she admitted. Albany, or home, wasn't really that far from there and she was pretty certain it was snowing there already. "Here just left of the main road, this road is smaller, way less traffic, it's never patrolled and cuts a good thirty minutes off your drive" she explained.
As he introduced himself to her she hesitated for a moment to reveal her own name, but what the hell, he wasn't even from here, that much was obvious and he was clearly heading out of town. She looked at his hand for a moment before she took it in hers. "Bobbi Winchester" she said "nice to meet you"
She almost laughed at his next statement, and she wasn't really sure how to respond. "My mom would probably very much like me home, my brother's probably ecstatic he's finally getting alone time..." she didn't mention her dad, or any boyfriend. She couldn't very well explain the situation, she was driving cross country twenty times over on a wild goose chase to find her father, to find what he was hiding from them, what exactly he thought it was they couldn't handle despite all their training. "Trust me, I know" his statement was all too true, it seemed like no matter how many cases she found and solved there were another three that popped up. "I don't even know where you're going" she pointed out. "Besides you're not the only one with a job to do" she had a very specific path ahead of her to follow, one which held the same route out of town but who knew where she would have to go from there. One phone call and she would drop everything and head to California if it meant maybe finding her father. Of course she was trying a different strategy now, instead of rushing to where he was, or where he had been she was trying to look at cases in the surrounding areas and trying to predict where he would be going next. That, was proving to be a problem. Bobbi wasn't used to hunting on her own, she almost always had her dad with her or her brother, or Max. Now on her own, things were very different.

Kaleb watched her carefully. She was definitely going through some form of trouble. Why else would she be here alone. He took a sip of his coffee as he tried to figure her out. Of course he almost spit it up when he heard her name. Winchester. Coincidence? Probably not. In this line of work coincidences were about as rare as a fire breathing golden horse. And Kaleb had only heard about two of those before. He tried to mask his shock behind his usual cocky grin but deep in his mind he was trying to figure her out. He had met Sammi Winchester before, the daughter of Dean Winchester and though these two shared some similarities it was not as close as sisters would be. That and the fact that she didnt mention a sister all pointed to one possibility. Sam Winchester's daughter. Talk about a chance meeting.
Kaleb smiled when she turned down his offer to travel together. He hadn't had much hope in the prospect either way but it was funny to see her try and be polite to an over-flirtatious stranger. He smiled happily as he said outright "So Bobbi how's your old man Sam? Don't worry I'm no enemy, though I wouldn't call me friend either. Let's just say I am a colleague. I know your father by reputation". Yet again, Kaleb had to be as direct as a derailed train. He smiled again as he said "Sorry to be so direct. You are the first American Hunter I've had contact with since returning to the states. I guess i got a little over excited".
He leaned forward slowly before bringing out his journal and saying "I have several targets here as well as dozens of leads. I'm trying to get around to investigating all of them but I have been out of the game for a while now so I am a little rusty. If you could just help me get where I am going I would really appreciate it. I will even compensate you". With that Kaleb brought out his wallet and removed five hundred dollars in cash and slid it across to her before relaxing back into his seat. After further inspection Kaleb started to catch the things he had missed. She did bear a Winchester resemblance, she was beautiful as were most the Winchester women, and she was younger than him by a few years. It was also noticeable that Sam had taught her to hunt, her body movements suggested the skills of a hunter. Hopefully she would believe he wasn't a threat. The diner probably wouldn't be a good place for a fight and after all Kaleb didn't enjoy the idea of hitting a woman, they were too soft.

She watched him carefully as he spoke of her father and he was right about one thing, he wasn't a friend. Despite having spent the majority of her time at home she knew her fathers associates at least by name I never having met them, it was part of how she'd been managing to track him all this time. What he meant it seemed was that he knew of her father which meant he too was a hunter. She laughed slightly at the prospect. Of course her was, because who else would she run into by chance on the road.
The thing was she couldn't tell him how her father was doing because she had little to no idea other than the fact that he was alive. "I'll let you know when I find him" she answered because only then would she actually know what the hell her father was up to. This game... It was sick whatever he was doing. Maybe he thought he was protecting them but he was doing just the opposite he was Luring her into danger and all by herself.
Damn it. Bobbi could not turn down a challenge and by putting his journal on the table he had all but challenged her to take on the things he had written in the pages. She stared at it for a moment as she listened to him talk about being rusty having been out of the game. She had no idea if any of it was true but she couldn't just let him on his way, it wasn't in her nature and if something preventable were to happen she would have that on her conscience for the rest of her life, no thank you.
As he offered her money she raised her eyebrows in surprise she wondered mostly where he'd gotten that much cash but she supposed that wasn't really her problem. "Fine" she started and pushed the money across the table back to him. " but I don't want your money" she said plainly. " I'll come with you cause If something happens to your rusty self on the road I'll feel responsible"

Kaleb watched her face intently as the information he gave her sank in. He had definitely given her a lot to think about. When she finally seemed to relax and accept what he told her he let out an almost audible sigh of relief. It was always somewhat dangerous to call another hunter out on their information. It could've gone either way. She could've told him off and then disappeared in the dark cold night. Kaleb honestly wasn't shocked that she pushed his money back, while there were some Hunters who would prefer to get paid when they offered services the majority offered their help through the goodness of their hearts. It was an inherited need to do good. Or and inherited need to get into trouble, either way you looked at it.
Kaleb didn't take the money off the table out of courtesy but did pull out a cigarette and light it. It was a disgusting habit but one that he couldn't seem to shake. He did however attempt to be polite and keep the smoke away from her. He flipped through the pages of his journal until he came to the page he was looking for. He showed her the page before saying "I came here following up on a lead, the lead was supposed to put me on the trail of a Loup Garou running rampant". He paused for a moment as he said "Werewolf, Loup Garou means Werewolf". Kaleb pulled out several pictures and displayed them across the table. The first was of a possible sighting of the werewolf. The next three were of scattered grizzly murders in the area. The final one was of an old man. Kaleb pointed tl the final picture as he said "This man is name Jean Jacque Monde. He's a former French General. Now I dont know how but he has some tie to the werewolf. He apparently immigrated to the states after he retired and lives in the town I was looking for. Apparently he has family there. My sources told me to search him out".
Kaleb gave her time to digest his information before saying "Now its dark and cold and i would rather be castrated woth blunt rocks than have to hunt a werewolf in these conditions so I might need some backup, feel up to the job?". He flashed his world famous cocky grin before putting out his cigarette and saying "Come on, it'll be fun. Course before we do anything I need a place to sleep. I've been riding for the past two night's nonstop to get here. Know of any crappy hotels I can get a room at this time of night?". As he waited for her response he slowly slid the money back to her as he said "And keep the cash. It'll make me feel better about interrupting your search for your father".

"Didn't anyone ever tell you those'll kill you" he said nodding to the cigarette. "Then again, Life of a hunter maybe you should smoke two at once it'll shorten the sentence" clearly she didn't have the highest expectations for her own life in the hunting business and truth be told she was always shocked to find someone older still surving. Uncle Bobby, her namesake, practically a living legend for having made it this long without getting himself killed, she herself knew she was a good enough little hunter but she truly didn't expect to live a long life, and even if she did... she knew enough to know you never escaped the hunting life so her existence wasn't going to exactly be picturesque.
" I know what it means" she said defensively but that was just the reaction of a young hunter. People always assumed she was uneducated, some kid off the street who had just stumbled upon the life. Please, she was born and bred she wasn't an idiot, course there were things even she had never come across in her life, and admittedly she'd never actually have to face a Werewolf. She listened to him explain the situation and she had to admit he was drawing her in, something she'd never faced before was the perfect challenge and well, she needed to up her skills if she was going to prove that she could do this on her own.
She had been told to go home, and she'd refused, she had no idea if her Dad knew she was still on the road or not but considering the fact that he was doing a pretty decent job at avoiding her she had to admit that it was pretty much assumed that was the case. "come on, It'll be fun... famous last words right?" she said with a smile shaking her head but she couldn't say no, she was all in on this one.
"I already have a room, you can take the extra bed" she said not really thinking much on it, stupid to get another one when she already had one and evidently he needed one. " I was saving it for my weapons but I guess I can let you have it" she was joking obviously, a little bit. She pushed the money back to him one more time. "Seriously if you try to hand me that one more time I'll light it up on flames"

Kaleb laughed when she asked him if he realized cigarettes would kill him. Her second statement made him laugh harder. He smiled after he caught his breath as he said "I live in a world full of monsters, demons, and global warming. Everything can kill me. These little bastards are the only sure thing that WILL kill me. That makes it a little more interesting". Kaleb took another long drag before saying "This job isnt easy and it isnt pretty. It's a battle that we lose every single day. No matter how man we kill or how many we save there are always more killing and always more dying". Kaleb had fought his inner battle to decide of the job was worth it. Obviously since he was here the battle was won, or lost depending on your point of view. He sighed audibly and finished off his cigarette before saying "If you wanna be a hunter you need to find your own reason to do it. Not just because your father taught you too. It's a lonely unrewarding life but its definitely worth it when you save someone".
Kaleb smiled at himself. He was babbling on and it was getting late. When she said she might roast his money if he offered it again he almost fell out of his seat with laughter. She had the Winchester attitude for sure. He merely smiled as he said "It might make a pretty blaze". With that he rose and walked over to the counter where he paid the waitress for his coffee and returned to the table. There he downed the cup and smiled at Bobbi as he said "So shall we retire my lovely? We are gonna have a very busy day tomorrow and we need to sleep". With that he walked out to his bike to take inventory.
He had a bag and a sleeping roll tied to his bike he checked to make sure both were set up nicely before mounting his bike. He had several weapons ready as well as tools of the trade to help him out. He waited for her to come outside and join him before saying "You have your own car right? I'll follow you to the hotel and then we can get setup for the night". He couldn't help but laugh as he was forced to add in "I must say this is the first time I've been able to get a girl to invite me to her room over a cuo of coffee. I must be getting better at this". It was a joke of course. Kaleb didn't want to think of the repercussions of going to bed with a Winchester girl but he was sure it would land him in a special circle of hell reserved for child molesters and people who talk in the theatre. And so he merely winked and waited for her to lead the way.

"Trust me you don't need to lecture me on hunting" she told him. She'd seen what it can do to peoples lives and her Dad had been lucky that her Mom would wait around for him, that all of them would, be happy to see him just when they could, that her Mom hadn't just forbid them from hunting. She wondered what her life would have been like if she had. Would she have still eventually found her way to the job? She wasn't sure, maybe she'd be in college right now studying to take over the auction house, not a high school drop out who spent her free time hunting down things that, as far as most people were concerned, didn't exist.
Might make a pretty fire? Right, he was definitely insane, but then again so was she so what did it really matter at the end of the day. She stood from her place at the table before grabbing her bag "Yeah well lets not find out, how about that" she would rather have not had to see the money burn but she always was a woman of her word and she quite literally would burn it if he tried to give it to her one more time and then neither of them would be better off, not to mention she was pretty sure burning currency was illegal, somewhere up there with burning books and the flag.
She couldn't help but just roll her eyes at his comment, though she did try to hide a subtle blush that was creeping into her cheeks thanking God that it was dark out, that was hardly what was going on anyway "Yeah well don't get any ideas, if you're as rusty as you say I could kill you in three seconds... if you're just being modest it'll be ten" she told him as dead serious as a doorknob, even though she had no idea if that were true. She was a skilled fighter sure but it was hard to estimate your opponent simply based on size. She could play it out in her head but an actual moment things could go an entirely different direction.
With that she walked the few feet to get car getting in she tossed her bag on the passengers seat before started up the car and pulling out, making her way down the street to the motel. It was a grand total of two longer minutes of driving before she'd pulled into the parking lot and was leaning against the hood of her car waiting.

Kaleb smiled as Bobbi as she walked towards her vehicle, laughing his ass off at her comment about killing him in 3 seconds. Not because he doubted her, but because it was hard to judge a Hunter by their appearance. For all he knew she might be a better fighter than him. Kaleb just shrugged the thought off as he said "You have some spirit there lass, I must admit I rather enjoy that in a woman. I think we might get along pretty well!". He dragged his hand through his long blonde hair before saying "Of course if you wanted to get me all hot and sweaty I can think of a few better ways than fighting".
He laughed aloud to himself as he watched her drive away. He followed at a distance before coming upon the hotel two minutes later. It looked decent enough, he had definitely stayed in worse. Kaleb pulled up to her on his bike and nodded to the hotel before asking "Have you secured a secondary exit and a defense position?". He stared at her with a serious expression before cracking a huge grin as he said "Nah, I'm just messin with ya lass. I was never good at being all serious".
He dismounted his bike slowly before unlatching his bag and bedroll. He then flashed a cocky grin to Bobbi before saying "Well my lovely, please lead the way. I am excited to see what kind of bed I might be staying in tonight". He made a mental note to pay her bill early in the morning while she slept so she couldn't protest. Call him what you want but Kaleb was polite. He didn't like getting things for free, and a free bed was worth a thousand things in this business.

She pushed herself off the hood of her car as she watched him pull up and dismount his bike. At his words she just stared at him for a moment before he felt into laughter, he seemed to fancy himself pretty funny, she was yet to decide where she stood on that opinion front.
"You're going to have to do better than that to get me, I have a little brother who considers it sport to annoy me" she said, not that Kaleb was annoying her but he was obviously trying to get to her, mess with her mind but she was prepared for this, a life of sibling rivalry had prepared her for it. Course, she and her brother got along more often than not, before he'd become a broody teenager.
All that aside she actually missed him, a lot more than she thought she would, but at the end of the day her brother was the only person who knew everything about her, her 'friends' could never know the whole truth, she was always living a lie, it was rare to be able to find someone she didn't have to hide from. She grabbed her key from her back and nodded to the right.
"room 16... it's nothing special pretty...typical" she said before reached the door she slipped the key in the handle and opened the door walking into the now dark rook before reached to turn on the lights. She had been joking about her weapons being laid out, the ones that weren't hidden in the trunk she had them hidden somewhere in the room, with a select few in the bed side table drawer and under her pillow. Maybe it was paranoia but she wasn't willing to take a risk. "Bed on the right is mine" she told him, as if that weren't obvious, it was clearly slept in and she hadn't wanted housekeeping snooping around her things.

Kaleb nodded sadly when she mentioned her brother. It brought back memories of Damian. Though he had come to terms with his brother's death it still pained him to think back on the life they had shared. They had come into this world together, now Damian was gone. It felt as though half the world had disappeared for Kaleb. He smiled sadly as he said "I had a brother, we used to play little tricks on each other all the time. But that was in another time and another life".
Kaleb followed her into the room and examined it closely. It wasn't much to look at but it was a warm bed on a cold night and that was all anyone could ask for. It was a luxury to Kaleb. He nodded to her when she pointed to the unmade bed and referred to it as hers. He walked over to the other bed and dropped his bag and sleep roll and opened both up. In his back were several cases that once opened offered an assortment of magical babes against the supernatural. In his sleep roll were several concealable pouches that held several firearms from his Magnum Python to his brother's old Compound Bow. He examined each weapon before wrapping the sleep roll up.
Kaleb then removed two items from a box in his bag and moved towards the door. He tied the two amulets together and positioned them on the door before looking back to Bobbi and saying "The tooth of Lycaon and Wolfsbane, seems to work pretty well at keeping Werewolves away". He then stood and walked over to the bed where he proceeded to undress. He looked over to Bobbi as he said "Would you like to take a shower first? I can wait, or join you if you want". He removed his long sleeve grey shirt and flashed his cocky grin. It was fun teasing her, she did so well at ignoring it that it made him want to try harder.

She watched his expression changed like she'd hit a nerve or something when she'd mentioned her brother. His face looked, dare she say sad? There was no other way to really describe it other than sad and it didn't exactly take a rocket scientist to figure out why, it was relatively clear. Hunters were notorious for having lost family members so it wasn't surprising his brother had died. " sorry" she said but left it at that she didn't want to push it further not knowing anything about him meant she didn't know how comfortable he was talking.
She watched he he examined his weapons and her eyes never left the bow for a single second. Archery was weirdly enough, a gift she'd been born with, something she ha discovered at grade 5 summer camp and since then her father had insisted on her training. It wasn't like she could do much with it other the on stealth jobs. She pulled her eyes away then to glance instead at her phone and focus on her messages or at this rate lack there of.
"Great" she said about the stuff to keep the werewolves out but she wasn't really paying attention. Joey had sent her something about one of his 'dreams' and she didn't like the sound of it. She also knew he was going to have to check it out himself because she was no good when she couldn't see what he could see.
It wasn't until his shower comment did he pull her attention away and back to him. Tempting she would admit especially as she got a good look at his body now it was all she could do to keep herself from saying 'damn' out loud but she kept that to herself thank god. He was making her feel seriously inferior. "In your dreams" she said sounding more confident in herself than she really felt " you can go ahead I showered before I went to the diner" she told him which was true.

Kaleb nodded when she offered her condolences as he said "He is at peace now. That's all I can ask for". He could see she was going through her own form of turmoil. He didn't see any need to drop his baggage on her so he let the subject drop. He never liked talking about Damian anyway. Too many memories.
When he saw the slight blush creep across her face at his comments and his brief nudity he offered a quick wink and a smile before he dropped his pants, leaving him in nothing more than a pair of boxer briefs. He flashed his cocky grin as he said "You know I was just thinking you might be the girl of my dreams. Guess I'll just see you there tonight". He laughed to himself mostly as he walked into the bathroom.
He turned on the shower and dropped his final article of clothing before stepping in. The hot water was like a balm to old wounds.
